Description
This is Kyosho's front receiver battery plate set for the Inferno MP9, an option part sold specifically to change the car's weight distribution.
On a nitro buggy the receiver battery is one of the few pieces of mass you can freely relocate, and Kyosho's own description of this part is direct about the purpose: it lays the battery out at the front to change weight distribution. Moving weight forward increases the load on the front tires, which builds steering, particularly on entry and through the middle of a corner where a 1/8 buggy often runs short of front grip.
It also shifts the car's balance rather than simply adding mass, which is what makes it a setup tool rather than ballast. Fitting it is a bigger change than a spring or a sway bar, so it is usually a decision made for a particular track character rather than something adjusted between heats.
Kyosho lists this as an option part for the Inferno MP9 specifically. A carbon version is available under a separate part number. Note the part is now discontinued at Kyosho, so availability is limited to remaining stock.
