Description
The Traxxas 9454 is a 54-tooth spur gear in 32-pitch, designed to fit 2WD models equipped with the Torque Control Slipper Clutch.
Spur gears let you fine-tune the performance of a Traxxas model. Changing the gear ratio shifts the balance between acceleration and top speed: fewer teeth on the spur move the ratio toward higher top speed, more teeth move it toward stronger acceleration and lower temperatures. At 54 teeth this is the taller of the two 32-pitch options in this group, favouring outright speed over off-the-line punch. That suits open running, large tracks, and smooth surfaces where a vehicle has room to reach and hold speed.
Gearing is also a thermal decision, not just a performance one. Running too tall a gear on a tight, technical track makes the motor and speed control work harder and run hotter, so the right ratio depends on where the vehicle is actually being driven.
