Description
The Traxxas 6993 is a left and right pair of tailgate skid pads that help protect the Slash tailgate against scrapes and other wear-through damage. Retainers and six 3x10 mm screws are included, so the set installs complete with no additional hardware.
The tailgate is the panel that drags first when a short course truck backs into a berm, slides rearward on landing, or comes down tail-heavy off a jump. Polycarbonate does not survive that kind of repeated abrasion. Once it wears through, the damage spreads and the body is beyond saving. These pads take the contact instead, sacrificing themselves to keep the shell intact.
Fitment is specific to 6958-series Slash bodies, and they mount using the body's existing locations.
They are inexpensive relative to what they protect, which makes them one of the more sensible preventative parts in the range. Fitting them to a new body before it ever hits the track is the smart approach, rather than waiting until there is already wear to deal with.
