Description
The Traxxas 6992 is a left and right pair of Slash roof skid plates supplied with retainers and six 3x10 mm screws. They mount to the roof of the body and take the abrasion when the truck lands upside down or slides across pavement on its lid.
The roof is one of the most exposed panels on any short course truck. A rollover puts the full weight of the vehicle onto it, and repeated contact wears straight through thin polycarbonate. Once that happens the body is finished. These skid plates sit between the roof and the ground, absorbing the scraping so the shell underneath survives.
Fitment is specific to 6958-series Slash bodies. The retainers and screws are included, so no separate hardware is needed to install them, and mounting uses the body's existing locations.
Treat these as a consumable. They are meant to be worn down and replaced, which is exactly the point: a set of skid plates costs a fraction of a body. Anyone running a Slash hard enough to roll it regularly should keep spares on the shelf, particularly if they have just finished painting a new shell. Genuine Traxxas replacement part.
