Description
The Traxxas 6870R is a pair of licensed Kumho short course tires in the ultra-soft S1 off-road racing compound, supplied with foam inserts. These are tires only, sold unmounted, for drivers replacing worn rubber on wheels that are still serviceable.
The Kumho tread is a scale reproduction of the full-size Kumho light-truck pattern. The blocks sit closer together than an open mud-terrain lug and cover more of the carcass, putting more rubber in contact with the ground. That makes the pattern well suited to packed dirt, groomed clay and indoor tracks where a widely spaced tread would squirm under cornering load.
The S1 compound is the softest Traxxas offers. It conforms to surface texture more readily and delivers a clear step up in mechanical grip over the standard compound, particularly on medium and high-bite tracks. The trade-off is tread life, which drops significantly on abrasive surfaces, so S1 sets are typically reserved for race day.
Sizing is the short course dual-profile standard at 4.3 x 1.7 inches, measuring 2.2 inches at the outer bead and 3.0 inches inside. Tires require gluing to the wheel before use.
