Description
The Traxxas 5466R is a set of four GTR shock bodies with four matching TiN-coated shafts, supplied as bodies and shafts only. It is the core hard-parts replacement for a full corner-to-corner GTR shock rebuild.
The bodies are machined aluminum, hard-anodized and PTFE-coated. The hard-anodizing resists the scoring and galling that comes from grit working its way past the seals, while the PTFE coating cuts internal friction so the piston moves more freely through the oil. The result is a shock that holds its damping consistently instead of degrading through a run.
The shafts carry a TiN coating, the same gold-colored titanium nitride finish used on cutting tools. It is significantly harder than plain steel and far more resistant to nicks and pitting. A scratched shaft is the usual cause of a shock that will not stop leaking, so the coating directly extends seal life.
This is an upgrade over standard shock hardware, not just a like-for-like replacement. Note that this package covers bodies and shafts only, so reuse your existing caps, springs, pistons and seals, or pair it with a GTR rebuild kit.
