The Traxxas 4262T is a pair of 32 mm hardened-steel shock shafts with a titanium nitride coating and a micro-polished finish for smoother performance and scratch resistance.

The shock shaft is the polished rod that slides through the shock's seals on every compression and rebound cycle. Its surface finish directly determines how freely the damper moves and how long the seals last. Any scratch or pit on that surface acts like a blade against the seal, and once the seal is cut the shock leaks oil and damping becomes inconsistent.

The TiN coating is what makes these worth fitting over standard shafts. Titanium nitride is significantly harder than the steel underneath, so the shaft resists the scratching and scoring that grit and debris inflict during normal running. The micro-polished finish reduces friction against the seal, which lets the shock respond to small surface inputs it would otherwise absorb.
