Description
The Traxxas 3691-SLGRY is a left and right pair of gearbox halves for the Magnum 272 transmission, supplied with the idler gear shaft.
These halves make up the transmission housing. They locate the shafts, carry the bearings, and hold the gear mesh in correct alignment. A cracked half or a stripped screw boss lets that alignment drift, and once the mesh is off the gears wear rapidly. Catching it and replacing the housing is a far smaller job, and a far smaller bill, than replacing a destroyed gearset.
Common reasons to need these include a case split by a hard impact, screw bosses that no longer hold the halves clamped together, or a rebuild where starting with a fresh housing makes more sense than reusing a fatigued one. The idler gear shaft is included, covering a component that typically shows wear by the time the housing does.
Fitment note: these fit the Magnum 272 transmission and will not fit the Magnum 272R transmission. The two are not interchangeable, so check which unit your vehicle runs before ordering.
