Description
The Traxxas 3440 is the Velineon 4s brushless power system, pairing the monstrous torque of the Velineon 540XL brushless motor with the VXL-4s ESC.
This is a complete power system rather than a single component, which is the important distinction. Motor and speed control are matched to work together, so there is no guesswork about pairing an ESC to a motor or discovering that a combination runs hot.
New High-Resolution Linear Braking provides the most intuitive and precise braking Traxxas has offered. That matters more than it sounds: coarse braking is either on or off, while linear braking lets a driver modulate deceleration progressively, which is what makes corner entry controllable.
The VXL-4s transforms 14.8 volts of LiPo power into staggering performance, and comes with built-in telemetry plus a selectable 6.0 or 7.4-volt BEC. The selectable BEC matters when running high-torque servos, since many need 7.4 V to deliver their rated performance.
An extra-large heat sink lets the ESC run cooler for extended run times. Heat is the limiting factor on any brushless system under sustained load, so shedding it effectively is what allows hard running pack after pack.
