Description
The Traxxas 2388R is a complete planetary gear differential for Magnum 272 transmissions, supplied unassembled. It includes the metal ring gear, hardened-steel internal gears, gear shafts, screws, and grease.
This is the whole differential in one part number rather than a collection of separate components. Everything needed to build a working unit is in the package, including the grease, so there is no hunting for the one missing shaft or screw partway through the job.
The metal ring gear and hardened-steel internals are the significant specification. Differential gears absorb every shock load the drivetrain produces, and hardened steel resists the tooth wear and rounding that eventually makes a differential slip and lose drive. This is a durable build rather than a basic one.
It ships unassembled, which is worth knowing before ordering. Assembly is straightforward for anyone comfortable working inside a gearbox, but it is a bench job requiring care with gear alignment and greasing. Traxxas also offers this as a completely assembled Pro-Built differential if you would rather skip that step entirely.
Fitment note: this fits Magnum 272 transmissions and does not fit the Magnum 272R transmission. The two are not interchangeable, so confirm which unit your vehicle uses. Genuine Traxxas part.
