Description
The Traxxas 10538 is a set of replacement 4-Tec Drift front and rear shock towers. Both ends are covered in a single part number.
Shock towers are the mounting points that carry the upper end of the shock absorbers. Every load the suspension generates passes through them into the chassis, which puts them under constant working stress and makes them a direct casualty of any significant impact. They also carry multiple mounting holes that let shock position be changed, so they play a part in setting suspension geometry rather than being purely structural.
A cracked tower is easy to miss and causes problems that are hard to diagnose. As the crack opens under load, the shock mounting point moves, which changes damping behaviour and ride height without anything looking obviously wrong when the car is sitting still.
These are direct replacements for the factory parts, fitting the original mounting locations with no modification. Suspension geometry is unchanged after installation.
Getting both front and rear in one package is genuinely useful, since a hard crash frequently damages more than one and buying them separately means two orders.
