Description
The Traxxas 10536 is a replacement upper and lower front bumper supplied with foam.
The front bumper is the first component to absorb impact in a head-on collision, taking the energy that would otherwise transfer into the chassis, front bulkhead, and suspension arms. This is a two-piece assembly, upper and lower, so it covers the full height of the front end rather than a single strip.
The foam is the part that does the real work. Moulded plastic alone transmits shock rather than absorbing it, whereas foam compresses and dissipates energy across the duration of the impact. That is what protects the more expensive components sitting behind it.
On a low-slung on-road chassis the front bumper earns its keep more often than on a raised off-road platform. The car sits close to the ground and meets kerbs, barriers, and debris squarely rather than riding over them.
Over time repeated impact loading cracks or deforms the bumper, and a compromised bumper stops protecting anything. Replacing it is a fast, cheap repair that gets a car running again between packs rather than ending a session.
