Description
The Traxxas 10520 is a replacement front splitter for the 4-Tec Drift Ford Mustang.
The splitter is the aerodynamic lip that extends forward along the bottom edge of the front bumper. On a scale drift car it is the lowest and most forward point of the entire vehicle, which makes it the first thing to touch anything: kerbs, barriers, ramps, other cars, and the ground itself whenever the chassis pitches forward under braking.
That position makes it a genuine consumable. It is meant to be scraped and broken, absorbing contact that would otherwise damage the body itself. Replacing a splitter is a few dollars; replacing a painted Mustang shell is a great deal more.
It also matters visually. The splitter is one of the defining features of a modern drift car's stance, and a shell missing one looks unfinished no matter how good the paint is.
Important fitment note: this is the Mustang splitter specifically. Traxxas lists a separate front splitter for the Nissan 240SX under part 10532, and the two are not interchangeable. Check which body you are running before ordering.
