Description
The Traxxas 10517 is a front clipless body mount for 10511-series Ford Mustang bodies.
The clipless system does away with traditional body posts and clips, latching the shell down at dedicated mounting points instead. This is the front mount, holding the nose of the body in position through every impact the front end takes.
The front is where most contact happens. Anything the car slides into, kerbs, barriers, other cars, all of it arrives at the front first, and the mount is what stops the body being pushed back or lifted off. A cracked front mount lets the nose lift under load, which looks wrong and exposes the shell to tearing at the mounting point.
The reason to run clipless at all is the clean bodyline: no tall posts sticking up through the shell, nothing to snag, and no clips to lose at the track. On a scale drift build that silhouette matters as much as how the car drives, and it depends entirely on these mounts staying intact.
