Description
The Traxxas 10516 is a rear clipless body mount for 10511-series Ford Mustang bodies. It includes a 3x8 mm screw.
The clipless system replaces traditional body posts and clips with dedicated mounts that latch the shell down at fixed points. This is the rear mount, and it carries the load of holding the back of the body in position through every slide, landing, and impact.
That load is significant on a drift car. The body is being thrown side to side continuously, and all of that inertia is resisted by the mounts. When one cracks or works loose the shell starts shifting on the chassis, which at best looks wrong and at worst lets the body rub through on the rear tyres.
The advantage of the clipless approach is that nothing protrudes above the bodyline. No tall posts to snag or tear the shell, and no clips to lose at the track. Preserving that clean silhouette is much of the appeal on a scale drift build, and it depends on the mounts doing their job.
