Description
This rear gearbox is the replacement transmission case for the RC10B74.2 four-wheel-drive buggy. It houses the rear differential and its bearings, sets the position of the rear outdrives and driveshafts, and provides the mounting structure for the rear suspension and shock tower assembly at the back of the car.
Because the gearbox holds the bearing bores that locate the differential, a case that has been cracked or distorted in a crash will let the diff shift under load. That shows up as inconsistent gear mesh, added drivetrain drag, and premature bearing and gear wear, so replacing a damaged case restores the original alignment instead of masking the underlying problem.
The gearbox fits the RC10B74.2 and RC10B74.2D. It is a direct replacement for the original part and reuses the factory differential internals, bearings, and hardware, so no modification is needed during the rebuild. The rear gearbox is a frequent casualty of hard landings and rear-end impacts, which makes it a sensible spare to carry to the track.
