Description
The center bulkhead brace ties the center bulkhead into the surrounding chassis structure on the RC10B74 platform. It bolts across the top of the assembly and adds a second load path, so drivetrain and impact forces are shared rather than carried by the bulkhead alone.
The brace fits the RC10B74, RC10B74.1, RC10B74.1D, RC10B74.2, and RC10B74.2D 1:10 scale 4WD off-road buggies and is a direct replacement for the brace supplied in those kits, mounting in the stock position without modification.
Braces of this type do two jobs at once. They hold the drivetrain components in alignment so the center shafts and gears stay properly located under power, and they set part of the torsional stiffness of the chassis, which affects how the car reacts to bumps and how it puts power down. A brace that has been cracked or bent in a crash lets the bulkhead move, so replacing it returns the chassis to its designed stiffness and keeps the drivetrain running true.
