Description
These front axle crush tubes are spacers that fit over the front axle inside the hub assembly on the RC10B74 platform. The tube sits between the wheel bearings and sets the spacing across them, so that when the axle nut is tightened the clamping load passes through the tube instead of squeezing the bearings themselves.
Listed dimensions are 5.1mm inside diameter, 6.5mm outside diameter, and 2.4mm thickness. The tubes fit the RC10B74, RC10B74.1, RC10B74.1D, RC10B74.2, and RC10B74.2D 1:10 scale 4WD off-road buggies and are direct replacements for the tubes supplied in those kits.
Because they control how the bearings are loaded, crush tubes matter more than their size suggests. A deformed or missing tube lets the axle nut preload the bearings directly, which produces drag, builds heat, and shortens bearing life considerably. They are small parts that are easy to lose during a hub rebuild or a wheel change at the track, so keeping a few spares on hand prevents a simple repair from turning into a stalled one.
