Description
This 40-tooth differential ring gear is the driven gear inside a differential on the RC10B74 platform. It meshes with the differential pinion and carries drive from the driveshaft into the differential case, which then splits torque between the two output axles.
The gear fits the RC10B74, RC10B74.1, RC10B74.1D, RC10B74.2, and RC10B74.2D 1:10 scale 4WD off-road buggies and is a direct replacement for the 40T ring gear supplied in those cars. Gear teeth wear steadily in use and can chip or strip after a hard landing or a driveline lockup. Worn teeth introduce noise, roughness, and lost drive, and the damage tends to accelerate once it starts.
Replacing the ring gear restores a clean mesh with the pinion and returns smooth, quiet power transmission through the differential. It is worth inspecting the mating pinion at the same time and replacing both together if either shows wear, since a worn pinion will quickly chew into a fresh ring gear and undo the repair.
