Wire diameter sets the rate. A lighter wire lets the chassis move and load the tires on a slick, low-grip surface, while a heavier wire holds the car flatter and gives more support on high-bite layouts and through hard landings. Because these are direct kit replacements, they slide onto your existing shock bodies and work with the stock spring cups and collars, so changing rates takes minutes and does not require a shock rebuild or an oil change.
Springs also fatigue with use.
