The adjustable height rear gearbox case for the RC8B4.2.
This case encloses the rear differential and its bearings and bolts to the back of the chassis, locating the diff, supporting the rear suspension mounts and setting the height of the rear driveline. The adjustable height feature lets you set the gearbox at different positions, changing the rear roll center and the way the car loads the rear tires under acceleration and through the middle of a corner. Raising or lowering it is a quick way to add or remove rear traction without touching shock, spring or diff settings.
It fits the RC8B4.2, the RC8B4.2 EURO and the RC8B4.2e electric version, and accepts the standard rear diff, bearings and outdrives from those kits. Being the factory specification part, it bolts in using existing hardware. A cracked case or a worn bearing pocket lets the diff move under load, which causes rough gear mesh and accelerated wear, so replace it during a rebuild if either appears.
