The adjustable height front gearbox case for the RC8B4.2 platform.
The gearbox houses the front differential and its bearings and bolts to the front of the chassis, locating the diff and setting the height of the front driveline relative to the chassis. The adjustable height design lets you raise or lower that mounting position, which changes the front roll center and the way the car transfers weight entering a corner, giving another geometry adjustment beyond arm mounts and camber links. That makes it useful for adapting the car between high bite indoor surfaces and looser outdoor dirt.
Fitment covers the RC8B4.2 EURO and RC8B4.2e buggies along with the RC8T4.2e truggy, and it accepts the standard diff, bearings and outdrives from those kits. As a factory specification part it installs with existing hardware and needs no modification. Replace it if the case is cracked or the bearing seats have worn, since a diff that shifts under load causes poor gear mesh and rapid drivetrain wear.
