Description
Rated at 3.60 lb/in on an 83mm free length with 10.0 coils, these 16mm rear springs sit in the middle of Team Associated's 1.50mm wire rear range for the RC8B4.1, RC8B4.1e and RC8B4.2.
The range runs from 3.40 to 3.75 lb/in, softer than the 3.7 lb/in rear spring supplied in the kit, and was developed for ungroomed, bumpy tracks where the earlier 1.6mm wire springs lost their advantage once grip dropped. Using 1.5mm wire changes the natural frequency of the spring so it compresses more easily, letting the rear tires stay in contact through chop, braking bumps and rutted corners instead of skating over them.
Rear free length was reduced from 86mm to 83mm to package with the lower shock towers on the RC8B4.1. Each rate in the family is separated by 0.25 coils, so moving up or down the ladder is a small and repeatable setup change rather than a large jump. Both ends are marked to keep 1.5D springs apart from 1.6D wire.
