Description
These 16mm rear springs are rated at 3.75 lb/in with an 83mm free length and 9.75 coils, the firmest step in Team Associated's 1.50mm wire rear range for the RC8B4.1 and RC8B4.1e, which spans 3.40 to 3.75 lb/in.
Team Associated developed the 1.5mm wire family after racing on ungroomed, bumpy surfaces where the previous 1.6mm springs, strong on fast high-grip tracks, struggled to keep the tires planted. The thinner wire changes the spring's natural frequency and internal stress so it compresses more easily and the rear end conforms to the surface instead of bouncing across it.
Rear free length was shortened from 86mm to 83mm to work with the lower shock towers introduced on the RC8B4.1, matching the fronts that dropped to 68mm. Rates are grouped in tight 0.25 coil steps for fine adjustment of rear grip and forward drive, and both ends of the spring are marked so 1.5D wire is easy to distinguish from 1.6D. Fits 16mm big bore shocks.
