Description
At 4.45 lb/in this is the softest front spring in Team Associated's 1.50mm wire range, built with a 68mm free length and 8.5 coils for the RC8B4.1 and RC8B4.1e.
The range exists because the previous 1.6mm wire springs, which work well on prepared high-grip tracks, lose front traction on the ungroomed and bumpy surfaces common at large outdoor events. Thinner 1.5mm wire changes the natural frequency and stress in the spring, so it compresses more readily and lets the front suspension track the ground rather than deflect across it.
Choosing the softest rate is the usual starting point when grip is low, the surface is rough, or the car needs more steering entering a corner. Free length was cut from 70mm to 68mm to package correctly with the lower RC8B4.1 front shock towers, and the range steps in 0.25 coil increments up to 5.05 lb/in so you can firm the front back up in measured stages. Both ends are marked to separate 1.5D from 1.6D wire.
