Description
These 16mm front springs carry a 4.65 lb/in rate on a 68mm free length with 8.25 coils, placing them toward the softer end of Team Associated's 1.50mm wire front range for the RC8B4.1 and RC8B4.1e.
The lineup was developed for ungroomed, bumpy racing surfaces where the earlier 1.6mm wire springs, well suited to fast high-grip tracks, stopped working as the ground broke up. Reducing wire diameter to 1.5mm gives the spring a different natural frequency and internal stress, so it compresses sooner and lets the front tires stay loaded through chop and braking bumps instead of skipping.
Free lengths were revised alongside the change, with fronts trimmed from 70mm to 68mm and rears from 86mm to 83mm to suit the lower RC8B4.1 shock towers. Rates run from 4.45 to 5.05 lb/in in front, stepped by 0.25 coils so each change is a small, predictable adjustment. Both ends are marked to keep 1.5D wire separate from 1.6D in the pit box.
