Rated at 4.85 lb/in with a 68mm free length and 8.0 coils, these 16mm front springs sit one step softer in Team Associated's 1.50mm wire range for the RC8B4.1, RC8B4.1e and RC8B4.2.
Moving from 1.6mm to 1.5mm wire alters the natural frequency and wire stress of the spring, letting it compress more easily so the front end conforms to rough ground rather than deflecting off it. The lineup was created after events on ungroomed, bumpy surfaces showed that the stiffer 1.6mm springs, strong on high-grip prepared tracks, cost forward bite once conditions turned low grip.
Front length dropped from 70mm to 68mm to work with the shorter shock towers on the RC8B4.1 platform, and rear partners in the same family were shortened to 83mm. Steps through the range use 0.25 coil increments, giving a fine, repeatable tuning ladder from 4.45 to 5.05 lb/in, and both ends of each spring are marked so 1.5D wire is not confused with 1.6D.
