Description
These 16mm front springs are part of Team Associated's 1.50mm wire lineup developed for the RC8B4.1 and RC8B4.1e. Rated at 5.05 lb/in with a 68mm free length and 7.75 coils, this is the stiffest option in the new front range, which spans 4.45 to 5.05 lb/in.
The thinner 1.5mm wire changes the spring's natural frequency compared with the previous 1.6mm wire, so the shock compresses more readily and the front tires follow the surface instead of skating over it. Team Associated developed the range for the ungroomed, bumpy tracks seen at large outdoor events, where the stiffer 1.6mm springs shine on high grip but give up traction as the surface breaks down.
Free length was shortened from 70mm to suit the lower RC8B4.1 front shock towers. Rates are grouped in tight 0.25 coil increments so you can step through the range in small, predictable moves, and both ends are marked so the 1.5D springs are easy to tell apart from 1.6D wire. They fit 16mm big bore shocks directly.
