Description
The ASC81611 shock shafts measure 3.5x44.5mm and carry a titanium nitride coating for use in the shocks on the Team Associated RC8T4, RC8T4e, and RC8T4.2e 1/8 scale truggies.
Shock shafts take constant abuse, sliding through the shock seals on every bump, and once the surface is scratched by grit the seal can no longer hold oil, which shows up as a soft corner and unpredictable rebound. The hard TiN surface resists that wear and lowers friction so the damper responds to small inputs more consistently.
This longer 44.5mm shaft covers the longer travel shock position on the RC8T4 platform, so check your shock length before ordering to be sure you are matching the correct end of the truck. Installation is a straightforward shock rebuild: unthread the old shaft from the rod end, transfer your piston and hardware over, and reassemble with fresh oil. Keeping a spare set on the bench means a bent shaft after a rough landing costs you a rebuild rather than a race.
