Description
This 48 tooth metal spur gear fits the RC8B4 and RC8B4.1 and forms the main drive connection in the 1:8 drivetrain, taking power from the pinion and feeding it into the centre differential.
Spur gears wear steadily during normal running and can lose a tooth outright after a hard landing or a rock through the drivetrain, so a spare in the pit box is standard practice for anyone racing regularly. The metal construction is the reason to choose this one over a composite spur: it holds up to repeated race weekends and hard power delivery instead of needing frequent replacement.
The 48 tooth count also functions as a gearing choice, shifting final drive relative to other spur sizes available for the platform so you can trade acceleration against top speed depending on how tight or open the track is.
