Description
The ASC81372 flywheel nut secures the flywheel and four-shoe clutch assembly to the engine crankshaft on Team Associated 1/8 scale nitro vehicles. It is the fastener that keeps the entire clutch package clamped and concentric, so a nut with clean, undamaged threads and an unrounded drive is critical to safe, reliable operation at full engine RPM.
This nut is used with the #81420 FT 4-Shoe Adjustable Clutch System and fits the RC8B3.1, RC8T3.1, RC8B3.2, RC8B4, RC8T4, RC8B4.1, RC8B4.2, RC8B4.2 EURO and RC8T4.2.
Because the clutch is removed and reinstalled often during spring changes, shoe swaps and engine service, the nut sees repeated torque cycles and eventually needs replacing. Running a stretched or thread-worn nut risks the flywheel loosening in a run, which can damage the crankshaft, clutch bell and bearings. This is a direct replacement for the stock hardware, requiring no modification, and it is inexpensive insurance worth keeping in the pit box.
