The Team Associated ASC81009 42/12 differential gear set is an underdrive gear option for the V3 differentials used across the RC8 platform. Running this ratio slows rear tire rotation relative to the front, which makes the car noticeably more stable on low grip surfaces where a standard ratio can feel loose and hard to drive.
If you are racing on a slick, blue groove, or dusty track and struggling to put power down cleanly on corner exit, this is the gear change that settles the car down. The package includes one 12T diff pinion gear and one 42T diff ring gear, so it is a complete matched set for one differential.
It fits the RC8B3.1, RC8B3.1e, RC8B3.2, RC8B3.2e, RC8B4, RC8B4e, RC8T4e, RC8B4.1, and RC8B4.1e with V3 differentials. This is a tuning upgrade over the stock ratio rather than a straight replacement part, and it is genuine Team Associated hardware from Associated Electrics.
