Description
The Team Associated ASC71217 idler shaft is the support shaft that carries the idler gear inside the three gear gearbox used on the RC10B7.1D buggy and the RC10SC7 Team short course truck. The idler gear and its bearings ride on this shaft, holding the gear in precise mesh between the spur gear and the top shaft as drive passes through the transmission.
Because the idler shaft is a bearing surface, its straightness and finish directly affect how freely the gear train turns. A shaft that has been bent by a hard impact or worn by grit will bind the bearings, add drag to the drivetrain, and cause uneven gear mesh and premature gear wear.
This shaft is a direct replacement for the one supplied in the three gear gearbox assembly and installs with the original bearings and idler gear. Fitting a new shaft during a transmission rebuild is cheap insurance for keeping the drivetrain free and quiet, especially after a season of racing in dusty or sandy conditions. Bearings, idler gear, and gearbox hardware are not included.
