Description
The Team Associated ASC71216 idler gear is the 54 tooth intermediate gear used in the three gear gearbox for the RC10B7.1D buggy and the RC10SC7 Team short course truck. It sits between the spur gear and the top shaft, transferring drive through the transmission while reversing rotation direction so the motor can be positioned in the three gear layout.
A three gear transmission changes how the chassis reacts to throttle compared with a four gear setup, producing a different anti squat effect and a different feel on corner exit, which is why racers switch layouts depending on track surface and grip level.
This 54 tooth gear is a direct replacement for the idler used in the three gear gearbox assembly and installs on the idler shaft with the original bearings and hardware. Idler gears wear over time and can be damaged by debris that finds its way into the gearbox, so replacing a worn gear restores smooth, quiet drivetrain operation and protects the spur gear from further damage. Bearings, idler shaft, and gearbox hardware are not included.
