The Team Associated MT12 Pinion Gear, 15 Tooth, is a .5 module pinion gear with a 2.5mm shaft bore, engineered specifically for the MT12 Monster Truck and MT12 Monster Van platforms to transfer power from the motor to the spur gear. Precision-cut teeth ensure accurate meshing with the spur gear, which reduces drivetrain noise and helps prevent premature wear on both gears compared to running a chipped, rounded, or otherwise worn original pinion. As a direct OEM replacement, it matches the factory shaft diameter and set screw mounting, so it swaps in using the stock hardware without requiring any other drivetrain changes. Replacing a worn or damaged pinion restores smooth power delivery and protects the more expensive spur gear from accelerated wear caused by poor gear mesh. This 15-tooth option can also serve as a gearing choice for fine-tuning acceleration versus top speed on an MT12. This is a maintenance and tuning part rather than a full performance upgrade, since it uses the same module standard as the stock gear. Because pinion gears see continuous friction and heat, keeping a spare on hand helps owners avoid downtime when the factory gear wears out.
