Description
This shim assortment covers two thicknesses in the 5x8.5mm size, with four pieces at 0.10mm and four pieces at 0.20mm for eight shims in total. Thin shims of this diameter are used throughout Team Associated vehicles to set clearance on bearings, differentials, gear positions, and shaft assemblies where tolerances are measured in fractions of a millimeter.
Correct shimming controls end play in a drivetrain. Too little and components bind, generating heat and drag that slow the car and shorten part life. Too much and gears and bearings walk under load, which produces noise, uneven wear, and inconsistent handling. Having two thicknesses lets you combine them to hit the exact clearance a build calls for.
These are direct replacements for the shims fitted at the factory, and they are also the parts you reach for when reassembling a differential or transmission after service. Thin shims are easily lost on the workbench, so a fresh pack is worth keeping in the toolbox.
