Description
This 14 tooth, Mod 1 pinion gear fits the Team Associated SR7 Hoonicorn 1:7 scale vehicle. The pinion mounts on the motor shaft and drives the spur gear, so the tooth count you run sets the final drive ratio and determines the balance between acceleration off the corner and top speed down the straight.
Fitting a pinion with fewer teeth shortens the gearing for stronger acceleration and lower motor temperatures, while a larger pinion raises top speed at the cost of more load on the motor and speed control. Having spare pinions on hand lets you gear for each track layout instead of running a single compromise ratio everywhere.
This gear uses the Mod 1 tooth pitch specified for the SR7 drivetrain and must be paired with a Mod 1 spur gear. It is a direct replacement for the original SR7 pinion. Fits the SR7 platform. Set the gear mesh carefully and re-check it after running, following the SR7 manual.
