Description
This is Kyosho's aluminum hex servo saver nut for the Inferno MP9, anodized gunmetal and sold as an option part.
The servo saver nut is what sets the preload on the servo saver spring, and that preload determines how much force it takes before the saver gives. That is a real tuning setting rather than just an assembly step. Wound tighter, the steering feels direct and precise because the saver stays rigid under normal cornering loads, but it passes more shock through to the servo gears in a hard impact. Wound looser, the servo is better protected but steering picks up a vague, slightly delayed feel.
The hex drive is the practical improvement over the standard part. It lets you set preload with a driver rather than by hand, which means you can repeat a setting exactly and reproduce it on the other car, and it will not round off the way a plastic nut eventually does.
Aluminum also holds thread tension better than plastic under vibration, so the setting stays where you put it. Kyosho lists it across the MP9, MP9 TKI2 through TKI4, MP9e TKI and Inferno GT3, with dealers adding MP10.
