A pair of 47mm Big Bore shock cases with Kyosho's Velvet Coating surface treatment, for 1/8 scale front shocks.
This is the coated version of Kyosho's standard 47mm front case, and the coating is the only difference between the two. Velvet Coating is a low-friction surface treatment applied to the bore, and the goal is to reduce the sliding friction between the piston and the case wall. In a damper, that friction is called stiction, and it is the reason a shock can fail to respond to very small suspension inputs at all until the force builds enough to break it free. Lower stiction means the suspension reacts to the small stuff, which shows up as a car that feels more planted over ripples and washboard.
The coating also improves the wear life of the bore surface itself, which is the part of a shock case that determines whether it can still seal after many rebuilds.
At 47mm this is the short front case, supplied two to a pack. Kyosho lists it for the Inferno MP9 and MP9e, with the MP777 front position also covered per dealer listings. This is an upgrade over the standard IF349-01.
