Description
The ARRMA ARAC5029 Hinge Pin set contains two 3x48.5mm steel hinge pins for ARRMA 4X4 platforms including the Kraton 4S and Outcast 4S. This part is also catalogued under ARRMA number AR330524.
Hinge pins are the axles the suspension arms pivot on. Every bump, jump, and landing cycles the arm around its pins, and every impact that reaches a wheel is transferred through them into the chassis. That makes them one of the hardest working pieces of hardware on the vehicle despite being simple parts.
Steel construction is what allows a 3mm pin to survive that duty. A bent hinge pin is a common outcome of a heavy crash, and the effect is immediate: the suspension arm binds instead of cycling freely, damping goes inconsistent on that corner, and the arm itself wears at the pin bores. Left alone, a bent pin turns a cheap repair into a replacement suspension arm. Pins also wear grooves over time from constant articulation, which introduces play into the suspension geometry.
Checking hinge pins after a hard hit and replacing them at the first sign of a bend is the cheapest suspension maintenance there is. These are direct replacements for the kit supplied pins, precision manufactured for smooth operation and fast servicing, and install with no modification. Two pins are included.
