Description
The ARRMA ARA709067 Shim set contains ten 10.2x15x0.5mm shims for the ARRMA Mojave 4S 4X4 BLX desert truck (ARA4404). Shims are thin precision washers used to control endplay and spacing on shafts, bearings, and gear assemblies throughout the drivetrain.
Small as they are, shims have an outsized effect on how a drivetrain wears. Correct shimming sets the clearance so that gears mesh at the right depth and bearings sit square without side loading. Too much endplay lets shafts and gears move under load, which causes noise, uneven tooth wear, and eventually stripped gears. Too little leaves the assembly preloaded and binding, which robs efficiency, generates heat, and shortens bearing life.
The 0.5mm thickness makes these useful for fine adjustment, letting you stack or remove individual shims to land on the right clearance rather than jumping in large increments. They are also easy to lose during a rebuild, since they stick to grease, fall out unnoticed when a gearbox is opened, and are simple to overlook when reassembling.
These are direct factory replacements for the shims used on the Mojave 4S and require no modification. Ten shims are included, which is enough to keep a full rebuild properly spaced with spares left over.
