Description
The Traxxas 8454T is a pair of 69mm front GTR shock shafts for the Unlimited Desert Racer, finished with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating. They are direct replacements for the standard #8454 shafts.
The TiN coating is the upgrade here. That hard gold-colored surface is far harder than bare steel, so it resists the scoring and pitting that eventually chews up a shock shaft — and a scored shaft is what tears x-rings and starts oil leaks. It also runs with less friction through the seals, which shows up as smoother small-bump compliance.
A bent or scratched shaft is one of the most common casualties of a hard desert landing, and it's a cheap part relative to the damage a leaking shock does to your handling. The UDR runs eight shocks, so keeping spare shafts on the bench is practical. Note these are the 69mm front shafts — rears are #8463T (74mm) and #8464T (81mm). Package includes two shafts.
