Description
A set of three clutch springs in 0.90mm wire, the soft grade in Kyosho's three-shoe clutch range.
The clutch springs hold the shoes in against the flywheel and determine at what engine speed the clutch engages. That engagement point is one of the most useful tuning tools on a nitro car. A softer spring lets the shoes fly out at lower rpm, so the clutch grabs earlier and the car pulls away sooner off the corner. A stiffer spring delays engagement, letting the engine climb further into its powerband before drive is taken up, which suits a high-speed track or a driver who wants the car calmer on corner exit.
At 0.90mm this is the softest in Kyosho's ladder, which runs 0.90mm soft, 0.95mm medium, 1.00mm standard and 1.10mm hard. It is what you fit for early, aggressive engagement on tight technical layouts or when the engine is struggling to pull out of slow corners.
Three are supplied, one per shoe, and they should always be changed as a set so the clutch engages evenly. Kyosho lists them across the Inferno MP9 TKI4, MP10 range, MP10T, Inferno NEO 3.0 and GT2 Race Spec.
