Description
These are four-hole shock pistons for Kyosho's Big Bore shock system, supplied two to a pack. The piston is the disc that moves through the oil inside the shock body, and the number and size of the holes drilled through it determines how fast that oil can pass, which is what actually controls damping.
A four-hole piston sits in the middle of Kyosho's Big Bore range: more open than the two- and three-hole pistons, more restrictive than the five-hole. That makes it a common starting point for rough, bumpy outdoor tracks where you want the suspension to move freely and absorb square edges rather than pack down over successive bumps.
Pairing piston choice with oil weight is the core of shock tuning. A more open piston with heavier oil often gives better big-hit control than a restrictive piston with light oil. Kyosho sells the W5303 series in several hole configurations so you can build a set that suits your track and driving style. Two pistons are included, enough for one pair of shocks, and they fit Big Bore shock bodies without modification.
