Kyosho's numbering encodes the spring directly: the suffix 2517 is the designation 2.5-1.7 written without its separator, giving the rate figure and the 1.7mm wire gauge. The gold colour code lets you identify the spring at a glance in the pit box rather than measuring it, which matters when you carry several rates.
Spring rate is the most fundamental suspension setting on any car. It carries the weight and determines how far the chassis moves for a given force, which sets ride height, how much the car dives under braking and rolls in a corner, and how much travel remains before it bottoms out. On a touring car, front spring rate is one of the primary tools for balancing understeer against turn-in response: firmer resists dive and sharpens entry, softer lets the front load up and find grip.
Kyosho marks these as an option part rather than a stock fitment, listing them for the V-One S, V-One S II and V-One S III. Two are supplied.
