This is the genuine Associated 72002 metal top shaft gear, cut with 20 teeth and built for the DR10M drag platform. The top shaft gear is a key component inside your transmission, carrying power from the spur gear through to the rest of your drivetrain, and its metal construction offers a significant durability upgrade over the stock plastic gear.
Drag racing puts extreme torque loads through the drivetrain on every launch, and a plastic top shaft gear can strip or shatter under that kind of stress, especially with a higher-power brushless setup. This metal 20-tooth gear is built to handle that abuse, giving your DR10M a more durable transmission for repeated hard launches.
This gear is a direct-fit replacement or upgrade designed to swap in using your existing top shaft hardware, machined to Associated's factory tolerances for reliable, consistent gear mesh.
