Description
The ARRMA ARA330844 Shock Shaft set contains two 3x60mm steel shock shafts, used on ARRMA 4X4 platforms including the Typhon MEGA. The shock shaft is the polished rod that passes through the shock cap and seal assembly and carries the piston through its stroke inside the shock body.
These shafts are made from steel, which is what allows a 3mm diameter shaft to survive the loads a basher generates. Shock shafts absorb the full force of every landing and every impact that reaches the suspension, and a shaft that bends even slightly will bind as it passes through the seals. That binding shows up as notchy, inconsistent damping and rapidly destroys the O-rings, which then leads to oil loss and unpredictable handling.
The polished surface finish is equally important. Seals rely on a smooth shaft to glide against, and any scoring or pitting will cut them. This is why a fresh shaft is a standard part of a proper shock rebuild rather than something to reuse if it looks close enough.
These are direct factory replacements that fit the stock shock bodies with no modification and work with the standard pistons and hardware. Two shafts are included, enough to rebuild one pair of shocks.
